FAQS
CAN WE COME TWICE A WEEK OR FORTNIGHTLY?
Speech therapy for everyone is once per week. Whether you want to double up or take it slow, once a week with parent involvement has proven to be the best path to rapid success. There's no contract, so if finances are a concern, you can do a short burst then take a break.
SHOULD I STAY OUT IFÂ MY CHILD LISTENS BETTER?
No, please come to all of the sessions! Even if your child listens better without you, the key to success is your learning and homework through the week. The speech sessions are not the fix, they're the coaching blocks. You are the fix!
CAN I KEEP MY SESSION TIME THE SAME UNTIL WE'RE FINISHED?
I understand scheduling preferences around busy lives! I try to keep the schedule as stable as possible week to week. However, a mobile service schedule will flex from time to time as clients come and go. You may be asked to move and work with what's possible over what is preferred.
HOW MUCH IS AN INITIAL ASSESSMENT?
There are no initial assessments unless specifically requested. With nearly 20 years of experience I don't need an assessment to know where we need to start or what the communication need is.
I have also found that parents just want to get started without the assessment findings, report, and fees.
Pre and Post videos have been a really fun way to show progress and these are done for all clients.
HOW DO I PAY?
DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
The preferred payment is on-site by eftpos. If you're not able to attend a session an invoice will be sent. Receipts for cash payments are also put through.
Insurance in NZ does not cover speech and language therapy unfortunately. Ask me if your child qualifies for the Child Disability Allowance.
CAN I DRIVE TO YOU IN WEST AUCKLAND?
I'd love to say yes, but I'm sorry. Keeping my client base in West Auckland has it's advantages. I know the local schools and daycares and can meet with staff as needed, keeping local means that as things come up for families I can be flexible. Finally, word of mouth and referrals are from happy parents to others in the area.
